The Coimbatore City Municipal Corporation has commissioned water tankers to five wards (ward nos 15,18,19,20 and 21) to supply Siruvani drinking water. Two water tankers each would be pressed into service to distribute water to the areas.
The wards, denied of water supply through pipelines due to poor storage in the Siruvani dam, would be catered with water tankers said Corporation Commissioner Dr. K. Vijayakarthikeyan.
“The Corporation has come out with the contingency plans and has started distributing waters with the help of tankers. Two tankers will be pressed into service to supply potable water each to the said five wards,” he said.
“The other wards will get interlinked water supply from Pillur drinking water scheme. Though drinking water is supplied once in 12 days in all the Corporation wards, instructions have been issued to raise the number of water tankers to meet the increasing demand” the Commissioner added.
