In what could be a major boost to the fight for gender rights taken up by transgenders, Kalki Subramaniam, transgender activist from Tamil Nadu has been invited to the prestigious Harvard University in the US to speak on transgender equality.

In the three-day India Conference 2017 to be held at Harvard in Cambridge, Massachusetts, Kalki will talk about the struggles faced by transgenders in the country in an attempt to lead peaceful lives.

In the invite letter, the organisers said that the topic, on the challenges faced by the transgender community, is a first at the conference.

Speaking to Covai Post, Kalki said that it was an honour to be a part of the conference and talk on transgender rights. “It is also a responsibility to bring out the struggles faced by the community and represent each and every transwoman in India,” she added.
