Director of Ganga Hospital Dr. S. Raja Sabapathy has been selected for two prestigious awards from two leading institutions from United Kingdom for his contribution in the field of Hand and Reconstructive Microsurgery.

He will be conferred with Honorary Fellowship (FRCS Hon) from Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow and Honorary Membership of the British Society for Surgery of the Hand (BSSH) for his contribution in the field.

“We recognize this is an important recognition in our Society and want to stress how we are all immensely impressed by and most grateful to your contribution to Hand Surgery and the BSSH in particular,” BSSH President Grey Giddins said.

The Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow council has selected Raja Sabapathy Honorary FRCS (Glasg) award, which will be presented at the admission ceremonies to be held on June 7 there, a release from the hospital said.

Reacting to the awards, Sabapathy said that he was humbled by the recognitions and felt happy that the work over the last 25 years has helped to put Coimbatore on the Reconstructive Surgery map of the World.

The hospital has become a recognized and preferred centre for teaching and training and over 1,400 surgeons from 60 countries have visited the centre to observe the work done here, he said.

The protocols devised by the unit and logistics of managing major injuries particularly the rejoining of totally amputated parts has been well recognized in the world, Sabapathy said.
