A DVD shop worker was arrested today after the pirated DVDs of latest movies, including those of Vijay’s latest flick ‘Puli,’ were recovered from his stall.

‘Puli’ was released in theatres worldwide on Thursday. The big budget multistarrer was produced by P.T. Selvakumar and Cibu Thamim. Upon receiving information about the sale of pirated DVDs of ‘Puli,’ a group of Vijay fans approached a shop near the Saibaba Kovil area to verify. When the shop-worker Akbar tried to sell them the pirated DVD, the agitated fans lay siege to the shop.

Cops from the B-11 police station rushed to the spot and raided the shop. A collection of pirated copies of the latest movies including ‘Puli,’ ‘Savale Samaali,’ and ‘Thani Oruvan, were recovered from the shop. Akbar was arrested.

Coimbatore Vijay fans club president Sampath said to the press that they inspected the shop for pirated DVDs of ‘Puli,’ which was released just two days ago. He also insisted that the shop owner, who had fled, should be arrested and the police should closely monitor and prevent such piracies.
