Organic and eco-friendly products are fast gaining popularity these days. With its organic saris, Co-optex too joins the bandwagon of companies that manufacture and sell organic goods. The Tamilnadu Handloom Weavers′ Co-operative Society Ltd. (Co-optex), in an initiative to encourage the go-green concept among women, has started manufacturing and selling cotton organic saris since February this year.
“We have manufactured about 1,600 cotton saris that are 100% organic. Even the dyes used for colouring the saris are all natural extracts,” R. Natarajan, Manager, PR, Co-optex Coimbatore, says. We are told that their cotton organic saris are manufactured in their Coimbatore and Tirupur units.
Currently, there are just few pieces left as they have sold about 1300 saris from February to September this year. “We are very happy with the market response. We have plans of increasing the production of our 100% organic saris,” Suresh Kumar, Regional Manager, Co-optex Coimbatore, shares.
It takes two days to manufacture one cotton organic sari. These 100% cotton organic saris are available in a variety of designs and hues. Depending on their work, they are priced between Rs.1,800 and Rs.2,500. Co- optex is offering a 30% discount on all their cotton organic saris till January 2016.
