29 ESIC dispensaries to be upgraded in Tamil Nadu

A total of 29 dispensaries coming under ESIC will be upgraded to hospitals in Tamil Nadu, union labour minister, Bandaru Dattatreya informed today.

Talking to reporters here in Coimbatore tonight, Dattatreya said that, of the 216 dispensaries in the state, 64 have own buildings and 22 of them will be upgraded to 10-bedded hospitals, with all the major equipment.

The ministry has already allotted Rs.200 crores for the upgradation, and he will hold discussions with the state government soon in Chennai to complete the formalities, Dattatreya said. Similarly, there was also proposal to upgrade seven hospitals to 30-bedded hospitals, he said.

Dattatreya informed that the ministry has identified dispensaries in Ranipet, Ambur, Thambaram, Kovilpatti, Rajapalayam, Dindigul and Virudhanagar for the purpose.
