Thanjavur: A 45-day-old baby girl was found abandoned on the old bus stand premises in Thanjavur, late in the evening today.

On hearing the baby’s cries, people waiting for the buses to Ariyalur in the old bus stand rushed there. They were shocked to find the baby lying abandoned.

When the baby’s mother did not turn up for long, they rescued the baby and handed it over to the personnel at the police outpost. Later, with the help of Childline members, the baby was admitted to the Rajah Mirasdar Government Hospital.
