The bus stand at Karamadai, near the local Panchayat office, is sinking in to the ground right before our eyes!

The bus stand, located at a busy part of the area, is also on the Mettupalayam-Coimbatore route. About 200 students, Panchayat officials and employees, vegetable vendors, and labourers use the bus stand everyday.
But it wears an abandoned look and has now become a den for alcoholics and criminals.

A. Liyakat Ali, a vegetable vendor, said that he has been regularly alighting at the bus stand for purchasing vegetables. Commuters are unable to use the bus stand even during monsoons, he said.

K. Vijay, a Class X student from Mettupalayam, boards his bus to the school at the stand. He and 50 other students want the shelter to be repaired and cleaned up.
