Dr. D. Ramamurthy, the Founder and Chairman of The Eye Foundation, has been conferred the Asia Pacific Certified Educator (ACE) award at the Asia Pacific Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons (APACRS) annual meet, held in Bali, Indonesia.
Two ophthalmologists from the Asia Pacific region are chosen to receive this award every year. This year, in recognition for providing extensive education to fellow ophthalmologists of the region, the Coimbatore-based ophthalmologist received the prestigious award at the APACRS’ annual meet that was organized from July 27 to 31, 2016.
A press release from The Eye Foundation stated that Dr. Ramamurthy has been an invited guest speaker, year after year, at the international conglomeration of ophthalmologists in different regions like, American Academy of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons, Asia Pacific, European, and Australian academy. Besides this, he has also been invited to every state scientific meets and to national level seminars, to talk on varied aspects of ophthalmology.
Dr. Ramamurthy has always been a teacher at the forefront, abreast with the latest in science and technology. In his capacity as the Chairman of the Scientific Committee, of the All India Ophthalmological Society, for a six-year period, Dr. Ramamurthy brought in a lot of innovative modes of teaching, and raised the scientific content to a very high platform of learning.
Currently, Dr. Ramamurthy serves as President of All India Ophthalmological Society (AIOS).
