Thanjavur: Air Force Station Thanjavur will host an Air Fest named ‘Know Your Forces,’ on August 13, as part of the Independence Day celebrations, in order to foster a sense of patriotism and pride in the youth and familiarize them with the functioning and role of the Indian Air Force.
There will be a static display of some of the frontline aircraft and other weapon systems of Indian Air Force. Information kiosks will be set up at the venue to familiarize the youth about the career prospects and various other details regarding the IAF, an official release said.
The Air Force Station will endeavour to host maximum number of visitors from Thanjavur and nearby areas, especially the young students. Various school and college will be invited to witness the event, the release said.
As the static display aims to spread awareness and motivate the youth of this country to join the Indian Air Force, school and college students will have an exclusive time slot, to have a good view between 09.00 hours to 13.00 hours. Thereafter, the display will be open to general public between 14.00 hours to 16.30 hours. Arrangements are being made to provide public conveniences, water and refreshments. Due to security reasons, visitors will not be permitted to carry any hand bags or mobile phones inside the venue, the release said.
