Coimbatore : The move by the state ruling party seeking disqualification of three MLAs, is a clear indication that DMK is going to win from all the 18 constituencies in which by-polls are to be held, claimed DMK Sulur assembly candidate and former minister, Pongalur N Palanisamy today.

These by-elections are being held at a crucial stage. The move by State Law Minister and AIADMK Whip to disqualify three MLAs showed the party’s fear of losing the polls, Palanisamy told reporters here this evening.

Stating that power loom industry in the region was facing serious problems, he said that due to GST nearly 30,000 power looms had closed down and there was a need to revive them.

He also accused Chief minister Edapadi K Palanisamy of giving a false promise on the much awaited Avinashi-Athikadavu project, despite laying its foundation stone.

Palanisamy also said that there was an urgent need to remove both the Central and State governments, whose economic policies had seriously impacted all sections of the people.

The former minister said that he had also come to know through a viral video in social media that there was some mystery behind the death of Sulur sitting MLA, R Kanagaraj.

The election in-charge and former minister, A V Velu, said that DMK President M K Stalin will be campaigning for two days in the constituency.
