Applicants invited for district-level performing arts awards

The office of the District Collector has invited applications for the district level awards in the field of performing arts.

In a release, the Collectorate has said that persons involved in various performing arts, including classic dance, classical music, folk dance, and traditional martial arts like Silambattam, can apply for the awards.

The awards are given in five categories based on the age – Kalai Ilamani award for those below the age of 18; Kalai Valarmani, for people between the ages of 18 and 35; Kalai Sudarmani, for those between the age of 36 and 50; Kalai Nanmani, for artistes between the age of 51 and 60; and Kalai Mudhumani, for those over the age of 60.

All the applicants should send their applications along with photographs of their works and other necessary details and certificates to the Assistant Director, Zonal Arts and Cultural Centre, Sharadha College before January 10, 2016. The applications received after the deadline will not be considered.

“The awards will be given at a government function organized by the district administration,” the release said.
