Udhagamandalam: Chief minister Edapadi K Palanisamy has said that the Assembly will be convened soon. This is was in response to queries about the demand from various political parties for the session.

Refusing to spell out on the political issue like the alliance between the two AIADMK factions, Palanisamy told mediapersons today that he was here to attend a Government function – inauguration of the two-day annual flower show.

As a response to the demand from the MP and MLAs in the district, he said the Government would modernise the Central Bus Stand here at a cost of Rs 2 crore.

The Government would also sanction Rs 8 crore towards development of the Botanical Garden.

Earlier after inaugurating the 121st flower show, Palanisamy spoke about the various development schemes initiated by late Chief Minister Jayalalithaa, adding that these had changed the face of the Nilgiris.

He lauded the organisers for creating the 25-foot tall replica of the Mahabalipuram temple in flowers which is expected to be a big draw at the show.

As many as 145 women self-help groups received Rs 5.76 crore under welfare schemes at the function.
