Coimbatore district collector has announced that unemployment benefits will be given for those who had registered with the employment exchange and did not get a job for more than five years.

According to the scheme, a sum of Rs.150 per month will be given for those who had completed SSLC; Rs.200 for those who had completed Class XII; and Rs.300 for those who had completed their bachelors and masters degrees.

Candidates who had registered with the employment exchange for more than five years and are still unemployed can apply for the unemployment benefits. Age limit for the Adi Dravida and tribal communities is below 45. For others, it has been fixed at 40. The family income of such candidates should not be more than Rs.50,000 per annum. The candidates must submit income certificates from the local income revenue officer.

Candidate should have studied in Tamil Nadu and must be residing in the state for at least 15 years. He/she should not be a regular student of any college or school. But students of distance education courses are eligible.
