Bharathiar University vice-chancellor A Ganapati today exhorted young women to inculcate an entrepreneurial mindset and pave the way for economic independence.

In his address to the 22nd Convocation of Sri Ramakrishna College of Arts and Science for Women here, Ganapati emphasised the role of women students in developing society and the nation.

Appreciating the successful move of the institution, which provided enormous opportunities and exposure to young women, he pointed out that the ideals of education at any level should be the development of human values.

Ganapati conferred degrees to 525 graduates of various disciplines and honored 24 students, who received university ranks and gold medals.

R Vijayakumhar, Managing Trustee, SNR Sons Charitable Trust, which runs the college, presided over the function.

The Department of Microbiology organised a medical camp for parents of graduates with free diabetic and thyroid screening conducted by a team of doctors from Sri Ramakrishna Hospital.
