More than 10 days after Hindu Munnani activist C Sasikumar was murdered by unidentified persons near Subramania Palayam in Coimbatore, CBCID police have released pictures of suspects based on CCTV footage.
Following the release in media, several eyewitness from the scene of crime have approached the police stating that they had seen the suspects committing the crime. The investigation is going in the right direction, said an official.
According to the police, the images were recorded at the Prasannalaxmi Bakery, close to the Thiruvalluvar bus terminus, near Gandhipuram. The images show four persons that night in and outside the bakery at the VKK Menon Road, by which Sasikumar passed after visiting the BJP office located nearby.
Police collected CCTV footage from Gandhipuram to Gounder Mills, where the murder took place, to identify the assailants and have claimed that the men in the pictures are only suspects and may not be the culprits. “We are currently collecting details about the persons and want to know what they were doing at the spot at that time,” police said, adding that the persons in the footage can approach the police department at any time to convey their non-involvement in the murder.
Those who know details about the suspects can call the investigating officer on 9498104441 or mail details to [email protected]
The images are the first clues that the police have obtained in the case so far.
