CBSE Guidance Festival and Skill Expo 2024 held at SSVM World School, Coimbatore

CBSE Skill Expo & Guidance Festival 2024 was organised at SSVM World School, Coimbatore on 18th September 2024, to offer students essential guidance on career development and the significance of skill-building.

Thiru. Satish Kumar, Deputy Secretary, CBSE, the Guest of Honour gave an insightful address on skill development in students. He said that this festival of skill development is being organised across the country in various regions. He spoke of initiatives of the CBSE board regarding national educational policy. The national credit framework is being implemented so that various activities of the students like sports and other activities get reflected in the certification. Several new skill modules are also being launched to reflect the new skills required today, he added.

Thiru. V. Balakrishnan, IPS, Commissioner of Police, Coimbatore, the Chief Guest inaugurated the festival and complemented SSVM Institutions for hosting such an event. He stated that in current times, we are exposed to several boards of education and greater interaction among streams can result in sharing of best practices. Today the need for skills has been formalised in the educational system.
Artificial Intelligence is becoming all pervading and teachers are facing a challenge as students are using AI for their assignments. He stressed the need to use a right combination of natural and Artificial Intelligence which can greatly benefit the world.

The Guests Thiru. Satish Kumar and Thiru. V. Balakrishnan, Dr. S. Manimekali Mohan – Correspondent SSVM Institutions and Mr. S. Mohandoss, Secretary- SSVM Institutions visited the various stalls at the skill expo held alongside the festival, which showcased 49 innovative projects from students representing 30 schools.

The event featured a range of informative sessions led by distinguished speakers like Dr. P. Manju, Director of Placements, RVS College, Mr. Jeevan Uthaman, Organizational development specialist, Ms. Heena Bhardwaj, Project Head at Media & Entertainment Skills Council (MESC) and Mr. Arun Kumar, Senior Software Developer at IBM spoke on various career options and role of skilling in employment generation. Over 250 students from various schools were part of this festival.

SSVM World School, with its advanced infrastructure, provided an ideal setting for this prestigious event, reinforcing its commitment to fostering creativity and preparing students for future careers.
