Celebrating Onam with a difference

This was a celebration with a difference. College students, who normally prefer celebrating events and occasions the fun way, chose to give dance and music a miss. The students of the Department of Catering Science and Hotel Management, SNR Sons College, celebrated Onam in authentic style!
Onam was celebrated inside the college premises. The entire venue was abuzz with activities and students were busy making last minute checks. The men and women staff and students were dressed in traditional Kerala attire. There was the Athapookalam that welcomed the visitors.
A group of students prepared the traditional Onam Sadhya, with 14 traditional dishes. Prior to the celebrations, a few students of the department made vegetable carvings based on Kerala and Onam celebrations. A short film on Onam was also screened.
In all, Onam was a wonderful learning experience for the students of SNR Sons College.
