The Aram Foundation Charitable Trust and the City Municipal Corporation on Wednesday launched the Child Care Response Centre and Smart Schools Education Centre at Corporation Higher Secondary School, Ranganathapuram. It was inaugurated by Corporation Commissioner K Vijayakarthikeyan.

The Smart Schools Education Centre has been opened with the aim of implementing modern teaching methodologies and will look into the physical and mental wellbeing along with the academic progress of all children.

Talking about the Child Care Response Centre, Latha Sundaram, managing trustee of Aram Foundation, said, “Earlier our team used to go to all the corporation schools to make the children aware about health and social issues, and to counsel them in case they were facing any sort of issues. At that time children were mostly uncomfortable to share their problems. By opening this centre, children and their parents can call the Child Safe helpline (Number: 8190000300) or can come directly to us with their grievance which will be dealt with confidentially by our experts.

The Corporation Commissioner was pleased by the ambience of the Center as the room was decorated with creative and informative posters. In his speech he told the children about time-management, how to create a balance between studies and play, and how to become a better person.

The Child Safe helpline and the Centre’s address will be displayed on big boards near the entrance of every corporation school in the city soon.
