A city lad has come second in Tamil Nadu by securing 655 marks in the NEET, results of which were announced today.

Mukesh Kanna is son of Manikandan, a businessman and Geetha, a teacher in Corporation School. He hails from Ponnaiahrajapuram in the city. Since he had already joined the Coimbatore Medical College, Kanna is not keen on attending the counselling.

Kanna had written Plus Two examination in 2015 and scored 1165 marks and as medical seat cut off was 193.75, he could not get a seat.

With 199.25 cut off for engineering course, he joined for mechanical engineering course in PSG College. “I wanted to study medicine and I appeared for NEET after discontinuing the engineering course,” Kanna said.

His paternal uncle, a paediatrician in Madurai was his inspiration. The dream to become a doctor, made him to work hard and take NEET on May 7. “My hard work has not gone waste. I have secured second highest rank by securing 655 marks in the State. As I have already joined Coimbatore Medical College through all India medical counseling, I will not attend NEET counselling,” Kanna said.
