The 547th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak was celebrated with religious fervour and gaiety in the city today.
The function was held at the grandly decorated Gurudwara Singh Sabha in RS Puram, where around 100 Sikh devotees came together from different parts of the city to pay homage to their beloved guru.
Ragi jatha (religious singers) from different gurudwaras of the north participated in the celebrations and recited Shabad Kirtan (prayers and chants).
Iqbal Singh, president of Gurudwara Singh Sabha Committee, said, “The complete arrangements related to this
celebration were done by the people of the community, from cleaning to decoration and preparing food for langar (free kitchen for all).”
Harwinder Singh, a devotee said, “We are even serving rose water and snacks to people who are queued up at nearby ATMs and banks today.” Special langar was served to devotees.
