Marimuthu, a Class IX student of the Corporation School, was killed on the spot when a lorry ran over him. The boy was returning home after buying milk for the family.

Marimuthu was the son of K. Muthukumar, of Pudukkotai Thirumayam, who worked as a centering work contractor. The family resided in Thudiyalur. Muthukumar and his wife had two sons – Marimuthu was the elder; the younger, Surya, is in Class VI.

Marimuthu took his bicycle and left for the nearby shop in the morning to buy milk. While returning, a speeding lorry ran over him. Marimuthu died on the spot. The lorry driver, sensing trouble, sped away without stopping. The local people informed the Thudiyalur police station.

The police have filed a case and are now looking for the lorry. The boy’s body was taken to the Government Hospital for post mortem.
