Coimbatore : In view of the upcoming World Environment Day on June 5, Thenkailaya Bhakthi Peravai is organizing a cleaning drive at Velliangiri Mountains on May 12, 19 and 26.

The Peravai is a Trust created by devotees of Velliangiri Mountain, which creates awareness among the public and Velliangiri devotees, about the sacredness of the mountains by encouraging people to undertake a holy pilgrimage there instead of a trek or a tour.

Apart from this, the Trust also maintains the sanctity of the mountains, protecting it from polluting plastics. For the past nine years, the Trust, devotees, volunteers and the general public have been involved in cleaning the pathway of the hills.

As a part of the cleaning drive, this year the Trust will organize a special cleaning drive for three consecutive Sundays – 12th, 19th and 26th May – on account of the upcoming World Environment Day.
