The under-12 soccer team of the First Kick School of soccer from Coimbatore won the Petra Sports Academy’s first ever soccer league tournament, titled Prevalence. The matches were held on November 5 and 6.
The children along with the clubs manager Harikrishnan, Secretary D. Saravanan, and other coaching staff brought home their first-ever trophy in a inter-state tournament held at Gachibowli Stadium, Hyderabad.
Striker Param Jain fired his first hat-trick of the tournament as the visitors crushed the hosts 6-2 in the finals. S. Adhitya of the visiting team won the Golden Glove as the best goalkeeper. “I’m excited that my son won the Golden Glove award. We are thrilled with all coaches and guidance they shared over the years,” says Adhitya’s father.
The Coimbatore kids won two out of their three games at the league stage. They made it to the knockout stage with a goal difference of 14 points. “They had a hard time playing on grass fields for the first two games. But, they quickly adapted themselves to the ground conditions,” C.J. Vignesh, one of the coaches, said.
“I’m very glad to see these kids performing well and improving their skills. The motive of our academy is to produce lots of young talents who make our district proud. Last but not the least, our sincere thanks to the parents who have helped shape their kids’ soccer life,” coach N.R.Vinoth Kumar said.
