Communal riots: Congress should introspect, says BJP

The BJP has suggested that Congress do some serious introspection before accusing the former of polarizing the country along communal lines. The BJP remark follows the allegations made by Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi at Mandya, Karnataka.

Replying to his comments, the union minister of state for Commerce, Nirmala Seetharaman has asked Congress to speak after introspection. “Who is talking about polarizing? The vice president of the Congress party, which is known for its minority appeasement policies, and the party under which this country has seen record number of communal riots?” she asked, while speaking to the reporters in Coimbatore.

“The perpetrators of Bhagalpur have not been punished. The perpetrators of Delhi anti-Sikh riots have not been punished. I can go back to the days of the Congress party which was in power in Gujarat, when more people lost their lives than ever before,” she said.

The trouble began when, after Modi’s statements on Dadri lynching, Rahul Gandhi accused BJP of polarizing the country, and said that it was part of the Modi-BJP strategy to make Hindus and Muslims fight with each other.
