Kottayam: Police is probing if actor Dileep gained confidence to plan abduction of actor after they failed to arrest conspirators of a similar crime in 2011.

Pulsar Suni, the prime accused in the abduction case of February 17 in which Dileep has been arrested, had planned the abduction in 2011.

The accused, assigned to abduct a young actor, by mistake on January 5, 2011 lifted a senior actor who is the wife of a producer. She had come to Ernakulam South railway station for a film shoot. Suspecting the demeanor of the vehicle crew, the actor alerted her husband. Realising that they had targeted the wrong person, the abductors
dumped her near a hotel and escaped.

The actor and her husband lodged a complaint in this regard about six years ago and no action was taken.

Pulsar Suni and four of his accomplices were arrested the other day on a fresh complaint registered in this regard at Ernakulam Central police station by Johnny Sagarika, producer of the film in which the senior actor had a role.

During questioning, Suni said the abduction of 2011 was planned by him to take objectionable scenes of another young actor. But those assigned for the job floundered and abducted the wrong actor.

Police is trying to find out if Pulsar Suni had discussed this matter with Dileep and to find out if this incident had emboldened him to plan abduction of the actor on February 17.
