Even after the expiry of deadline, TTV Dinakaran group on Tuesday submitted another petition to the Election Commission requesting it to cross examine the rival faction leaders before the October 6 hearing on the two leaves symbol dispute.
Raja Sendoorpandi, counsel for Dinakaran faction, hoped that the Election Commission, functioning as a quasi-judicial body could allow his plea to question the rival faction leaders. The advocate submitted the petition to the Nirvachan Sadan officials in New Delhi.
There is need to question rival faction leaders as they had earlier given sworn statements saying one thing and later submitting something opposite in writing now. These contradictions need to be examined, Dinakran’s lawyer told media persons.
Meanwhile, the Madras High Court will be taking up the hearing of petition filed by 18 disqualified MLAs. Already speaker had notified the vacancies to the Election Commission, but the High Court has barred starting the process of filling up the vacancies before the disposal of the petition filed by the disqualified MLAs.
