“Danfoss Energy Efficiency Yatra,” a nationwide campaign aimed at raising awareness about energy efficiency in energy intensive industries like textiles and pumps, was held in Coimbatore recently.

Being a manufacturing hub, the Yatra (bus) is aimed at tapping the strong textile and pumps industry and to tell stakeholders on the need to switch to energy efficient drives, as energy consumption in this sector has tremendously increased after the introduction of modern machinery and processes.

“There is great potential for saving energy in industries like textile and pumps, which form the backbone of Coimbatore’s economy. Therefore, it is crucial to spread awareness among industry stakeholders on the need to adopt technologies that will further optimise productivity, but reduce energy consumption,” Soren Kvorning, Vice President, Head of Asia, Pacific and India Region,

Danfoss Drives, said in a release.

“The yatra is conceptualised to sensitize key stakeholders on the need for energy efficiency interventions as a necessity more than an option. This is a platform to educate industrial consultants and engineering procurement construction consultants on how a better tomorrow is driven by drives,” he said.

“It is interesting to note that with increased automation, the textile industry is also showing keen interest in energy saving technologies and we are confident that this yatra will further enlighten stakeholders on new technologies,” Danfoss India’s President, Ravichandran Purushothaman, said.

Stating that the multi-city Yatra was aimed to empower industries to adopt brand new innovations in energy efficient technology, he said that the bus will cover 11,000 kilometres through various cities, in a span of four months.
