Coimbatore : A group of farmers Friday sought immediate intervention of the district administration to save their crops from the wild life, particularly elephant, tiger and peacocks.

The famers who arrived to participate in the regular grievances meeting demanded the administration for implementing the suggestions given by late M Sivasamy , a farmer leader in the region.

The suggestions include to scare away the elephants by shooting with with rubber bullets and to kill other wild animals, the farmers, without any affiliation to political parties, said.

Some of the farmers wore masks with the face of Sivasamy, alleged that the representations given to the ministers and concerned department officials fell into deaf ears.

In view of this the collector should take immediate action to save their crops from wild animals and also from increasing presence of peacocks, they said.
