Gene Omm Medical Centre will conduct a free camp for children with genetic disorders, with emphasis on creating awareness and educating the society regarding the prevention, treatment and rehabilitation methods.

The two-day camp, beginning from September 19, will see participation of consultants in various fields of paediatric multi-speciality, from different institutions, Dr. M. Pradeep Kumar, Head, Gene Omm Medical Centre, told reporters here.

Though not visible to the external world, the doctors feel the trauma, agony, pain, sufferings and helplessness that the families of such children, even grown-ups, with genetic disorders, some time called as abnormal children, Dr. Pradeep said.

The camp will identify problem in the children and get holistic and multi-disciplinary
paediatric super-speciality guidance, free of cost, under a single roof, he said.

All parents were ignorant about various aspects of these disorders, particularly the fact that such children can be rehabilitated and their skills could be developed with proper training and multidisciplinary care, he said.
