A youth, who was going to appear before a Coimbatore court in connection with his bail formalities, was attacked by a three-member gang with knife in full public view.

The 25-year old Karthik, from Kembatty Colony in the city, having many cases against him, was going to the district court to sign when he was stabbed by the gang.

However, public intervened and rescued him, even as the trio managed to escape, police said.

Karthik, with stab injuries on his hand and forehead, got himself admitted to the Coimbatore Medical College Hospital. By the time police reached the hospital, Karthik had fled the place.

Since there was no complaint about the attack, police have yet to register a case and “are searching for Karthik to register a complaint on the attack,” police said.
