Members belonging to the Coimbatore Compressor Industries Association (COCIA) called on the Kerala Finance Minister, Thomas Issac, and sought his support in getting the GST on air compressors reduced from 28 per cent to 12 per cent.

As the industry was not able to pay the 28 per cent GST, COCIA office-bearers recently met Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley, who in turn asked them that it has to be decided by GST Council and required the support of State Governments, an association release said today.

Stating that the small industries were seriously affected by the increase in GST in financially difficult position due to increase in GST, the release said the association, led by its President Ravindran, met Thomas Issac on Wednesday in Thiruvananthapuram and sought his support to reduce the tax.

The association has already met Tamil Nadu Finance Minister in this regard, it said.
