Kerala governor, Justice P Sathasivam laid the foundation stone for a 120-bedded hospital in Mudalipalayam. The hospital is being constructed as part of the 91st birthday celebrations of Perur Mutt Pontiff, Shantalinga Ramasamy Adigalar.

Mudalipalayam is the birthplace of Adigalar. It was Adigalar’s desire to construct a hospital because there were no medical facilities there. The Rs.20 crore hospital, to be built in five acres of land and 65,000 sq.ft built space, will be completed in two years, Dr. Nalla G. Palanisami, one of the trustees, informed during the function, which was attended by the Adigalar.

The two-storied hospital will provide free treatment for the poor and offer concessions for the needy, Palanisami said.

Another scheme – provide monetary assistance to 90 temples in Tamil Nadu to perform everyday pujas – was announced by S. Malarvizhi, the chairperson of Sri Krishna Institutions. Initially, 30 temples will be taken up and Rs.5000 per month will be provided to each temple.
