Eminent gastroenterologist and laparoscopy surgeon Dr. C. Palanivelu will be presented with ‘Golden Award of Encyclopedia of Gastroenterology’. Kerala Governor P. Sathisivam will present the award at a function here on May 27.

Pontiffs of Kailasa Heritage Meikandar Perur Aadheenam and Kaumara Madalayam-Siravai Adheenam, Bishop of Catholic Diocese of Coimbatore and CSI Coimbatore Diocese, representatives of Coimbatore District United Jamath and Gurdwara Singh Sabha, will be present at the function, V Nandakumar, President, The Patriot, an NGO told reporters here today.

Major associations such as CII, Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Siruthuli, RAAC, Lead India 2020, Lions District 324B5, Kerala Social Welfare Foundation, Tamizhaga Vivasayigal Sangam (apolitical) are jointly presenting the award, he said.

The award was not only for his achievements in the medical field, but also to make known to the world, how a poor farmer’s son, living in penury, become one of the top surgeons in the world and become a role model to the youth, Nandakumar said.
