Maoists observe hunger strike in prison

Two of the five Maoists lodged in the Central Prison here today observed fast in protest against the arrest of those who had come to visit them in the prison a few days ago.

Police had arrested Rashid and Harihara Sharma of Kerala, on charges of carrying a pen drive to the prison. They duo had hidden it inside their clothes, while coming to meet Anup Mathew, one of the Maoists.

Protest against their arrest and police action of ‘foisting false case’, Anup Mathew and his colleague, Veeramani observed hunger strike in the jail. Rashid and Sharma have also been lodged in the jail.
