Medical Camp for handloom weavers

A medical camp for Handloom weavers was conducted today in Coimbatore and Pollachi. 38 workers were given services worth Rs 9.94 lakhs by the government.

The camp was conducted under the head of Mr. Pollachi V Jayaraman, Tamilnadu Assembly Vice-president and District Collector Archana Patnaik. S.P Velumani, Minister for Municipal Administration, Rural Development, Law, Courts and prison joined the event and distributed Rs 5.70 to the families of 7 handloom weavers who died. Products used for handloom worth Rs 1.24 lakhs were given to 31 workers by him.

Minister S.P Velumani said that “This camp has been started today successfully according to the order given by Honorable Chief Minister Jayalalitha which comes under the National Medical Insurance plan. More than 6 hospitals have joined in this camp. All the needs according to the schemes given by the Chief Minister are being done successfully. Insurance cards have been given to 9635 weavers.”

He also said that “For a family as an insurance Rs 30,000 has been allotted for medical and surgical expenses and also Rs 7,500 has been allotted as a medical insurance for outpatients”.

Pollachi Assembly Member M.K Muthukaruppanasamy, District Panchayat Head R. Kanagaraj and other officials were also present in the camp.
