The city police have seized more than 300 bottles of brandy that were meant for sale near TASMAC shops, even as there were prohibition orders here on Thursday.

District Collector Archana Patnaik had previously ordered prohibition in the district on Thursday for Milad-Un-Nabi. All the TASMAC outlets were ordered to remain closed on the day.

However, many private persons sold brandy from petty shops next to the outlets in the city. The city police have arrested 21 persons in the city for selling brandy and seized around 334 brandy bottles.

The district police also arrested 30 persons all in the district and seized around 350 bottles of brandy. All the 51 accused were arrested and later remanded.
