Officials and the representatives of the toll gate contractors failed to turn up for the all-party meeting that was scheduled to be held today to negotiate on reducing the toll fee being charged at the newly constructed toll gate on Avinashi Road.

Angered by their absence, a section of the residents, led by DMDK MLA Dinakaran, picketed in the area.

Following intense pressure from all circles, the authorities and contractors agreed to attend a meeting today to discuss the tariff. But, they did not turn up. The angry members picketed in front of Sulur Taluk office. They were cleared from the area by the police.
