The Department of English of the PSG College of Arts and Science is to conduct an Orientation for School teachers handling English on Wednesday.

According to a release from the Head of Department and one of the resource persons K. Rathnasabapathy, the Department is expecting as many as 400 teachers from private and Government schools to attend the sessions along with around 200 college students.

The HoD further stated that the orientation was an extension activity under autonomy, and was planned for the teachers handling English at the eighth and the ninth standards in Government, corporation, and private schools,” he said.

He added that the proposed one day orientation would involve demonstrations of effective methods of teaching poem, grammar, and vocabulary taken from the school textbooks prescribed.

“Apart from the training, we would also give a book of instructional plans to the teachers, which in our considered opinion, will definitely give a definite sense of direction to teachers handling English at schools as what to teach, in what order to teach, how to teach, and with what to teach,” he informed.
