The Kovai Medical Center and Hospital Research Foundation (KMCH RF) today organised a medical camp in Kalapatti to create awareness about various diseases and disorders.
Various tests worth Rs. 10,000 were performed free of cost in the camp that was attended by around 1000 people.
They were screened for diabetes, pre-diabetes, hypertension, cardiac risk factors, liver disease and hepatitis virus. Starting today, doctors from KMCH would visit the area and offer free counselling for the local population for four weeks (Sundays only).
KMCH RF, the brainchild of KMCH chairman Dr. Nalla G. Palaniswami, has carried out epidemiological projects in rural (Nallampatti) and semi urban (Thadagam) Tamil Nadu earlier also.
The hospital is keen to detect the prevalence of diabetes, pre-diabetes, hypertension, cardiac risk factors, liver disease and hepatitis virus in the rural population.
