Coimbatore : Opposing the alliance with AIADMK, film actor Ranjit on Tuesday announced his decision to quit Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK) and also from the Vice-president post of the party.

“It is ridiculous to ally with AIADMK, against whom PMK has staged various demonstrations and described the Ministers and Chief Minister in “unparliamentay words,” Ranjit told reporters here.

It is really painful that the party, which fought against liiquor all these days is to work together with a party, which is selling liquor across the State, he said.

Stating that this alliance could be for power or money, he said that the people will not accept the alliance, particularly those youngsters who wanted to see Anbumani Ramadoss as the Chief Minister.

The justification that the party has put forth the 10 point charter of demands for joining the alliance is not acceptable and the biggest joke of the year, he said adding that many petitions including the gutka case, corruption charges against Minister, filed by the party were pending before courts.

Terming this as a drama only until the local body polls, Ranjit said that once the poll dates are announced the party will come out saying that it was not satisfied and will contest the assembly elections alone.

When asked about joining any other party, particularly AMMK, led by T T V Dinakaran, he said that he has not decided to join any other party as yet.
