Union Commerce and Industry Minister Suresh Prabhu is planning to visit Tirupur, the knitwear hub of the country, in a month’s time to check the ground realities faced by the exporters there.

This was indicated by the Minister, when the office bearers of Tirupur Exporters Association (TEA) met and submitted a memorandum requesting him to address export related issues, including GST Implications.

TEA President Raja M. Shanmugham said that the Minister was positive and assured to provide whatever support needed to the exporting community for sustenance.

Prabhu has also assured to release the package soon to bail out the exporting units from the crisis, Shanmugham said, adding that Prabhu has planned to visit Tirupur to check the ground realities, after hearing that the export markets will be shifted to the competing countries.

TEA office bearers also met Union minister of State for Labour and Employment Santosh Kumar Gangwar and appealed for construction of ESI hospital there, Shanmugam said.
