Probe on to ascertain the reason for the two-year contracting HIV

Coimbatore : The two-year old baby has not contracted HIV from the blood administered from the Coimbatore Medical College Hospital and a probe is on to find out the real reason , Tamil Nadu Health Minister, C Vijayabhaskar said on Saturday.

There is no truth on the complaints that the girl contracted HIV from the blood given from the Government hospital and the person who donated the blood also tested HIV negative, Vijayabhaskar told reporters here.

Stating that the baby was treated at various hospitals, he said that the reason can be known if the parents cooperated and action can be taken after a thorough investigation.

Steps can be taken to provide treatment to the affected either in any of the Government hospitals or any private hospital, he said.

Vijayabhaskar who here to inaugurate a new Rs.6.5 crore angio centre at the hospital, the second after Chennai, said that the problem in the brain and liver can be detected and rectified at earliest.

Stating that the works for a Rs.seven crore trauma centre is in progress in the hospital, he said that the hospital is being developed on par with any private hospitals.
