Coimbatore : Proposing the name of Congress President, Rahul Gandhi as Prime Minister candidate was DMK president M K Stalin’s wish,Tamil Nadu Chief Minister, Edapadi Palanisamy said on Sunday.

” It is his (stalin’s) wish,” was Palanisamy’s reply when asked about the proposal at the function of unveiling the statue of former chief Minister, M Karunanidhi at Chennai.

On unveiling the statue, he quipped “I only know that leaders of various political parties have participated in it”.

To a question on alliance for the coming Lok Sabha polls, Palanisamy told reporters at the City Airport, that the situation will arise after the announcement of poll dates and that he will inform then. DMK has so far not announced the alliance, he said.

With regard to Sterlite, the chief minister said that the Government will approach he Supreme Court.

The agreement for Rs.1,532 crore for the Avanashi-Athikadavu projects is expected to be signed and the works will begin soon, Palanisamy added
