Emphasising the importance of grants that the students receive from the government during college days, Furqan Qamar, secretary-general of the Association of Indian Universities, New Delhi, advised them to reciprocate by offering their services to society.

Distributing graduation certificates here at the PSGR Krishnammal College for Women today, he also said that they should lead disciplined lives.

“The scholarships you receive are tax payers’ money and the best way to make it fruitful is by returning the favour by serving society, when you succeed in life,” said Qamar and urged them to make use of all the opportunities that they get in life.

Qamar opined that leadership and ability to act in the best interest of society is the primary objective of education.

Nearly 1,700 students, who successfully completed their undergraduate and postgraduate programmes at the college for the 2015 academic year, received their graduation certificates.
