One of the biggest problems for the residents of Ward 19 is the lack of proper roads and drainage facilities.

The residents of Thendral Nagar say that in addition to lack of good roads and drainage system, bushes and shrubs have started encroaching on the roads. They also have lots of complaints about the mixer grinder given by the government. Despite multiple complaints, no action has been taken.

Y.A. Samuel, another resident says, “One of the major problems is the lack of roads. The Corporation should take all necessary steps to resolve this problem. Also, the Councillor visits the areas only rarely.”

K. Haridas, a resident of Periya Thottam Colony, says, “The area does not have a drainage system and people face lots of trouble during the rains.”

“The roads here are very bad and people face lots of difficulties while travelling,” says one of the residents. “The children’s park in the area is also not maintained properly and the councillor should take a quick step in this issue,” he adds.

“Namma Toilets, which were built in the area, have never been used till date. More than Rs.10 lakhs was spent for this,” says another resident. “The councillor visits the area only rarely. He should take necessary steps to solve the problems in the area,” he adds.

The AIADMK Councillor of Ward 19, R. Mylsamy, could not be reached for comments.
