One of the major problems the residents of Tauta Nagar and Maharani Avenue under Ward 18 undergo is lack of proper roads. The areas also lack dustbins and drinking water facilities.

One of the residents says: “There are no proper roads here and people find it difficult to travel. Being a driver it is very hard for me to drive through the roads”. He also added that the drainage here has not been cleaned properly and a few street lights do not work.

A. Muthuvel, another resident says: “The roads are not proper and that is the only problem we are facing for many years. The area Councillor promised us that things will be sorted out soon, but nothing has changed yet.”

A resident of Maharani Avenue say: “I have been residing in this area for more than 25 years and all these years the residents have the problem with the roads here. The bins are insufficient and there is a need for more bins.”

The area also faces problem with drinking water as it is supplied only once in 12 days. “The supply is inadequate for the people here. The Corporation should make an arrangement for adequate supply. Bushes on the roadsides have not been cleared and hence provide a good spot for snakes and other poisonous reptiles to reside. Besides raising complaints there is no proper response from the Councillor”.

The residents of Om Ganesh Nagar demand a separate water tank for their area. “We are in a need for a separate water tank for us and neighbouring areas”, said one of the residents. The Ward Councillor should take quick steps to resolve our problems, he added.

Covai post spoke to the AIADMK Councillor of Ward 18, G.J. Gunasundari. “We have called for tenders and the work will begin within a week,” she said.

About the dustbin facilities, she said she was ready to place bins when and where required.
