In its continued drive against the encroachment of reserved lands, the City Corporation has retrieved 2.5 acre of reserved sites, valued at Rs 24.60 crore in the last couple of days.
The drive was carried out in the five zones of the Corporation on December 23 and 24, Corporation Commissioner K Vijayakarthikeyan said, in a release here today.
While 85 cents valued at Rs 8 crore was retrieved from the East Zone, 20 cents worth Rs 3 crore was recovered from West Zone.
Similarly, 50 cents worth Rs 8 crore, including shops constructed by private persons, was taken into possession from the North Zone, 70 cents worth Rs 3.60 crore was retrieved from the South Zone, he said.
Procedure was on to retrieve encroached land, which was occupied by private shops in the Central Zone, he said.
