“The Central Government should give as much as Rs. 15,000 crore for flood relief,” K.K.S.M Thehalan Baqavi, the State President of Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI) here on Friday.

Briefing reporters here, Baqavi said that relief measures taken by both the Governments did not meet the requirements. “Only a few areas are being covered by the Government and many places are left out,” he added.

He further asked the Government to focus on flood relief and hygiene once the flood waters have receded from the roads.

“The Chief Minister and Central Government representative should visit all the flood hit areas in Cuddalore and Chennai and make sure that people receive the fund relief materials,” he added.

He asked all secular parties to unite to contest the 2016 elections during his visit to Mettupalayam as part of his “Makkalai Sandhippom” tour on Thursday.
