Coimbatore : The new Vice-Chancellor for Bharathiar University here will be appointed only after the tenure of suspended vice-chancellor ended, Tamil Nadu Higher Education Minister, K P Anbalagan said on Tuesday.
The vice-chancellor, A Ganapathi was suspended following a corruption charge of taking bribe for appointment of a faculty a year ago and the University is without a vice-chancellor ever since.
Talking to reporters on the sidelines of 35th convocation of the University, Anbalagan said that Ganapathi was only suspended and not removed from his post and his tenure ends in March.
On forming search committee, the Minister said that two members have been already selected–one by senate and another by Syndicate and the third member would be soon selected by the Government, after which the selection process of new Vice Chancellor will commence.
